E-Stim
At Cambridge Podiatry, our Podiatrist Grace Wan, offers a service called Electroacupuncture/E-stim. Electroacupuncture uses low frequency electrically stimulated needles to treat many neuromuscular conditions, inserted along specific pathways or meridians at acupoints, or at muscle trigger points related to the area of concern. Electroacupuncture is a useful tool in treating numerous podiatric conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, Morton’s Neuroma and general muscle tightness.
Pain
Our podiatrists can assess for and treat pain in the heel, forefoot, bunion, Achilles, ankle, skin, knee and any other foot pain you may be experiencing.
Our knowledgeable podiatrists will complete a thorough assessment to find the cause of your pain. Depending on the diagnosis, your podiatrist will select the best treatment for you to get you pain free as quickly as possible. Our treatment modalities include taping, orthotic therapy, footwear advice, exercise prescription, trigger point needling, foot mobilisations and more!
We are also qualified and experienced in use of Shockwave Therapy, SWIFT Therapy and PACT Nail Fungus Therapy.
Attention Chronic Foot Pain Sufferers:
SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
What Is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy (SWT) is a treatment in which radial pressure waves are applied to areas where chronic pain is being experienced. The introduction of these waves into the body triggers a healing response which promotes regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues. Additionally, SWT can assist with the following:
- new blood vessel formation
- reversal of chronic inflammation
- stimulation of collagen production
- release of painful trigger points
Who is it for?
- Plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendonitis
- Morton neuroma
- Trigger points
- Peroneal tendonitis
- Patella tendonitis
Attention Fungal Toenail Sufferers:
PACT NAIL FUNGUS THERAPY
What is PACT Nail Fungus Therapy?
Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy (PACT) is the method where bacteria, viruses and fungi can be killed off effectively on skin surfaces and nails without pain.
PACT works by applying a photosensitiser gel to the nail and then light is applied to the nail which activates the gel. This activation releases energy which induces fungal cell death without harming surrounding tissue.
What is the process?
- Your nail will be trimmed and sanded with your podiatrist removing as much of the fungal tissue as possible. This enables the penetration of the gel and light.
- The gel is applied to the affected nail and it is left on for 10 minutes.
- The light is applied to the nail for 9.5 minutes.
Attention Plantar Wart Sufferers
SWIFT Therapy
What Is SWIFT Therapy?
SWIFT therapy is a minimally-invasive treatment that uses a probe to emit focussed microwave signal into the skin in order to eradicate warts, verrucae and papilloma’s.
The microwaves generated by the SWIFT work to elicit an immune response so your own body can recognise and fight the wart. The microwave energy is emitted in short and sudden bursts at the predetermined depth to ensure it targets only the wart.
Generally, most patients require between 3 and 4 treatments, spaced approximately 4 weeks apart. Yet, keep in mind that how many treatments you will require may be vary depending on how your body’s immune system responds.
The SWIFT treatment has an incredible 83% success rate!
Especially effective for large mosaic warts that are not responsive to tropical treatment.
